Delectable Gooey Butter Cookies {Recipe}

Gooey butter cake is a St.louis thing that is now loved across to world but what about gooey butter cookies. I started making these a few years agon and have tried many recipes and variations before finding the "one". I have a half batch plain and a half batch with mini chocolate chips for the kids. I have also made starwberry gooey butter cookies with white chocolate chips that are to die for. Yum so good.

What you need:

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1/2 cup butter, softened (I use stick butter)
1  medium-large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 package yellow butter cake mix
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar

1.Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

2.In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter. Add in egg and vanilla. Add cake mix, and stir until well blended. (add in your extra goodies here is you have any such as chocolate chips, fruit, nuts, ect)

3.Roll into 1inch balls and roll the balls in the confectioners' sugar. Place 1 inch apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

4.Bake for 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.

It is important not to over cook the cookies. They are a soft dough but they are suppose to be.
I hope you enjoy these and remeber your not limited to just plain gooey butter you can use any mix-ins or cake flavors to switch it up. Germany chocolate is heavnly.
